Testimonials
Judy Ascano Schuler, P.E
“I had the pleasure of working with Judy on the design of a multi-discipline, multi-million dollar construction project in New York. In her role as the lead consultant and project manager, she stood out as an exceptional leader and a natural team builder dedicated to delivering the highest quality of work to satisfy our client’s goals. Despite the numerous challenges encountered throughout the project, Judy’s professional knowledge, positive attitude, and level-headed and calm demeanor were absolutely an inspiration. I would highly recommend her without reservation.”
Nikhil Bodhankar, P.E.
Electrical Engineering Lead and Mechanical/Electrical Project Manager
“…meetings that I was able to attend and watch her present on the trails on behalf of Goodwin College have been simply amazing. She is very clear and precise on what she needs to get across and speaks with such conviction that the commission itself is speechless without any questions or comments about the project. As we watched others go before and get hammered by the commission because they were not prepared I was afraid they would be upset enough to have it carry over to us and of course with Judy at the helm that was not the case.”
Bryant Harrell
Vice President, Facilities and Technology, Goodwin University
“Judy was my go to engineer on a number of facility and site improvement projects in both Connecticut and Massachusetts, and proved time and again to be an invaluable asset to UPS to achieve our goals and meet critical and time sensitive needs. The quality and attentiveness to detail in Judy’s work is outstanding, and her technical knowledge combined with her professional and friendly demeanor has shone brightly in her presentations before land use commissions, meetings with municipal staff, and presentations before neighborhood groups. She articulates technical information in an easy to understand manner for all and is quick on her feet to effectively respond to questions and comments that come her way. I have enjoyed working with her and trust in her ability and dedication to get a job done right.”

Founding Principles and Company Name
At its most basic level, East and West are considered opposites because they are directly across from each other on a compass; however, they are both necessary and equally important for giving directions and accurately determining your location on a map. Accurate mapping is also fundamental to sound engineering designs for land development projects. The name East-West Engineering resonated with owner and founder, Judy Ascano Schuler, as an homage to the purpose and accuracy of a place and as a celebration of the unity and harmony between seemingly opposite and essential ideas. The melding of diverse and differing perspectives elevates what we create, expands our knowledge, and makes our work exciting.
Given her diverse background, the founding of East-West Engineering was an opportunity to put these concepts front and center and at the core of the work we do at East-West. Collaboration, partnership and building trust, sharing a client’s vision and taking a holistic view and personalized approach to streamline a project from concept to beneficial use is what we do best. At East-West Engineering our goal is to listen to our clients so we can design the right solutions to meet their goals while understanding the framework of the regulatory and permitting process and the impacts and context within the surrounding community and the natural and built world.
